Revision Date: 08/31/2010
RFP 138053
The City of Palo Alto is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide professional services for provision of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) & AMH (Automated Materials Handling) Systems. The Palo Alto City Library is seeking a vendor(s) to provide services, software and hardware related to the provision of RFID (radio frequency identification) in support of self-check technology, staff assisted circulation functions (check-in and check-out), and materials security at all 5 library locations. In addition, the Library seeks to outfit 3 library locations with AMH (automatic materials handling) systems in concert with planned building renovations to be fully completed by Fall of 2013. The current plan is to complete the RFID conversion of the entire library collection by June 30, 2012. The schedule for additional branch equipment installations will be firmed up as funding is secured. The CITY expects to complete the entire project by Spring, 2014 with the completion of the renovation of Main Library and the consequent implementation of AMH (if recommended) at Children’s Library.

The goal of the Library is to select the best product for each library application, therefore there is no guarantee that the Provider or Providers selected to provide RFID tags and security system would also be the same Provider or Providers selected to provide the staff or inventory equipment or the AMH equipment. The required services and performance conditions are described in the Scope of Services, included in the RFP documents as Attachment A.
